Patrick Sebile has a legendary track record of introducing innovative lures into the saltwater market. We were not disappointed when we saw the Flying Popper from his new company Ocean Born.
The Flying Popper looks like an ordinary polaris style popper from a distance, but a closer look reveals some difference making features. The side wings along each side are dual purpose in that they provide stability in flight during the cast, as well as some lift for it when it's in the water. The ribs along the lures' belly creates both an added disturbance in the water. These features allow the lure to not only pop forward during retrieve, but also tilt side-to-side as well.
The Flying Popper comes in Floating (FL), Sinking (SK), and Super Long Distance (SLD) models weighing in at 2, 2 3/4, and 4 ozs, respectively. They are 5 1/2 in (140mm) in length.
The Floating and Sinking models feature heavy duty split rings and 4X treble hooks. The Super Long Distance model steps up to even heavier split rings and 6X strong hooks out of the package.
